How do I buy online?

I want to buy your software online, but see no place on your web site for the credit card number.

To buy online, you should first download the software and install it at no charge. Then run the installed product, which starts in the trial mode. To buy it, click the "Purchase Now" button in the installed software, then click "Online Purchase" and enter your registration details and credit card number. You may also check the box to have the software CD and the printed manual sent to you. This information is sent to our secure server either encrypted over the Internet, or using a direct phone call with your modem (your choice). There are no security compromises. Your software is then fully functional in a few seconds. At that time you also receive a registration key which you should keep in a safe place. If you ever need to reinstall the software, the same key will work.

I've downloaded your software, but I'd rather give you my credit card number over the phone.

You may call with your credit card number 9 am to 5 pm Eastern U.S. time, and we will immediately give you a registration key. In the installed software, click "Purchase Now", then "Manual Purchase" and enter this key there. Your software will instantly be fully functional. You should keep your registration key in a safe place. If you ever need to reinstall the software, the same key will work.

I want to buy your software on CD (not by download).

You may do so by sending us a check or credit card details. We then ship you the software on CD with the printed user manual and registration key.


ReInstallation / Lost Registration Key

I bought your software some time back, but forgot to back up the original download. Now my hard disk crashed and I need to reinstall the software. What do I do?

From our web site, re-download the same version of the software which you bought. Then install the downloaded software, click "Purchase Now", then "Manual Purchase" and enter the registration key which you received when you bought the software.

I need to reinstall your software, but can't find my registration key. What do I do?

There is no guarantee that we can replace a lost registration key. However, if there is no alternative, we will try to locate your original purchase record and give you the key in about one working day. There is a $15 charge for this service.


Changing computers

I've downloaded and tried your software. I want to buy it, but need the purchased copy on a different computer, not this one. What do I do?

Redownload the software to the desired machine (or use your original downloaded file), and install the software there. Then, in the installed software, click "Purchase Now", and proceed with an online or manual purchase.

I've bought and used your software on one computer, but now need to move it to a different machine. What do I do?

The license agreement lets you install one purchased copy on one machine. You should first uninstall the software from the old machine. Then redownload the same version of the software to your new machine (or use your original downloaded file), and install the software there. Then, in the installed software, click "Purchase Now", then on "Manual Purchase" and enter the key you received when you bought the software.


Upgrades

How often is your software upgraded, and are the upgrades free?

As we continue to improve our software, we periodically release upgrades. Upgrades may result from several situations, such as new word processor versions, user feedback, and the addition of new features to our software. Minor revision level upgrades are free, and may appear every couple of months. Major revision level upgrades (typically once a year) may be purchased for just the price differential (if any) if they appear within a month after you purchase our software, else they involve an upgrade charge. You do not have to upgrade, and may continue using the older version without incurring any cost penalty if you decide to upgrade later. Click here for more information.


Nota Bene and Brother Word Processor Users

I am a Nota Bene user, and have heard that your import/export filters are no longer available with Nota Bene. What are the file conversion options now available to me?

Any Nota Bene software shipped after July 31, 2007 does not include our import/export filters. However, our newest product, FileMerlin, includes all the conversions provided by those filters, and much more. Besides supporting the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect and other applications, it handles more formatting features and converts more accurately than the import/export filters.

I own a Brother Word Processor, and have the Brother Conversion Software disk that came with the machine. However, that software does not support the latest versions of Microsoft Word and other word processors. What are the latest conversion options available to me?

The Brother Conversion Software shipped with Brother Word Processors is now several years old. Our newest product, FileMerlin, includes all the conversions provided by that software, and much more. Besides supporting the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect and other applications, it handles more formatting features and converts more accurately than the software shipped with the Brother machines.


Other Questions

I paid for and registered your software. But every time I use it, it is in the trial mode and I have to enter the key each time. Why?

Instead of running the installed program, you're running the installation program each time. In effect you're reinstalling the software each time, which sets it back to the trial mode. Once installed, you should run the program by clicking the START button in the Windows taskbar, then PROGRAMS then the product. You should not run the file that you originally downloaded, unless you need to reinstall the program.
