OEM Licensing of Document Conversion Technology

Advanced Computer Innovations, Inc. licenses state-of-the-art document and data file recognition and conversion technology to software developers for inclusion in their own applications in a user-transparent manner with minimal overhead. This technology recognizes and converts file formats, and is even suitable for advanced and complex formatting, embedded and linked graphics and many other modern-day functions. Conversion to or from complex modern-day file formats such as Microsoft Office, WordPerfect, HTML, XML, RTF, Excel, Access, etc. is included, as well as to/from many older word processor file formats and generic formats such as ASCII, ANSI or Unicode. The convertors are available as DLLs that may be called from host products developed in virtually any Windows development environment, such as C/C++, Visual C++, Visual Basic, FoxPro and many others.

If you wish to market your product including this technology, you need to enter into an OEM License with us. Various OEM licensing options are available. Pricing depends on how the licensed technology will be used, the distribution quantity and the price of the host product.

This document is a brief summary of typical OEM licensing possibilities. We recognize that developers have unique and differing requirements, and will be glad to work with you to arrive at a mutually agreeable license.

License Initiation

There is a license initiation OEM fee of US$ 3500. This fee covers any minor changes to the licensed software and initial support that may be required. Other changes to the software may require additional payment of programming or other charges.

Distribution Fees

The distribution fee depends on whether the license is for general (open-market) distribution, or only for distribution within your organization (internal).

General open-market distribution

You may opt for royalty-based or flat-fee licensing. The choice depends primarily on your product's list price and the quantity you expect to distribute per year. You may change your option when renewing your license at the end of an annual term.

Under royalty-based licensing, you pay us a royalty for every copy of your product that includes our software. The royalty is computed as 4% of your product's list price, subject to a per-copy minimum of US$ 1.50. There is a minimum royalty requirement of US$ 8000/year.
Under the flat-fee option, you pay a flat fee of US$ 60,000/year. This entitles you to unlimited distribution of our software with your host product for that 1-year period.

Internal distribution

If you only distribute the software internally, the distribution is treated as a site license and the distribution fee is just the one-time site license fee. There are no royalty payments or recurring fees. Please contact us if you need further details.

Upgrades

As new versions of word processors are released in the market or popular file formats are updated, Advanced Computer Innovations, Inc. keeps updating the conversion software. You may license these upgrades at your discretion. There is no charge for minor upgrades. The OEM charge for a major upgrade is US$ 1500.

For general open-market distribution, distribution fees continue as for the older version, and the minimum royalty or flat fee paid for an older version continues to cover the new upgrade.
For internal distribution, an upgrade involves a site license ugrade fee which is fraction of the fee for a new site license. Please contact us for details.
